But a missing page from a transport ledger bears Evan’s own signature: he knowingly authorized the shipments and took a share of the profits. Evan wants to use Ward’s crimes to seize power while hiding his own involvement. Mara refuses to stop the investigation at Ward, forcing Evan to choose between the position he has always wanted and an honest future with her. Evan eventually hands over the complete ledger, including the evidence against himself. Together, they help guests escape an armed confrontation with Ward and recover both parts of the mirror, finally returning to their own bodies. Their first kiss cannot erase his past: Evan admits his crimes and serves his sentence, while Mara faces an internal review and continues her career. Years later, after completing his sentence and court-ordered obligations, Evan reunites with her. Another year on, he runs a legitimate transport company. At a public exhibition, the restored mirror reflects them leaving for home together.
